The investigation into a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Margate, P.E.I., that left a 96-year-old man dead is continuing, according to RCMP.

The man, from Park Corner, was a passenger in a mini-van driven by a 62-year-old woman that went off the road and struck a culvert.

RCMP P.E.I. media relations officerCpl. Scott Stevenson said an autopsy was scheduled today to determine if the man died from injuries in the crash or if there was another medical reason.

"At this point the collision analyst is still conducting his investigation. He would be examining the vehicle, doing a mechanical inspection on the vehicle to see if there are any mechanical issues."

The woman remains in the Prince County Hospital in Summerside, P.E.I.
