Stratford plans traffic-calming measures

The Town of Stratford may see more traffic-calming measures in the new year following consultations with residents.

Town awaiting provincial funding

The Town of Stratfordcould see more traffic-calming measures in the new year following consultations with residents.

The town is considering a series of traffic calming measures including roundabouts, speed bumps and better signage, said Coun. Steve Ogden, vice-chair of the town's safety services committee

The town is waiting for funding from the province, said Ogden.

"It's a whole gamut of changes and really designed to heighten the sensitivity of people to things like speeding, to make people more responsible in driving habits around the town and improve the safety for residents," he said.

"But where we are right now is trying to work with the province to get some of those measures put in place."

The new infrastructure will be included on streets such as Langley, Rosebank, Marion Drive and Governors Lane, among others.
