Summerside Police continue search for missing woman

Police in Summerside are asking for the public's help in locating Shalyn Sabine.

The search for Shalyn Sabine is still going on, according to Summerside police in a statement issued at 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

The 39-year-old Sabine was left the Prince County Hospital at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, said police. Police and hospital staff are concerned for her well-being.

Ground search ongoing

Members from both theSummersidePolice Service and Ground Search and Rescue have been conducting searches on foot throughout the city for most of the day, and continued into Monday night.

An RCMP helicopter was also brought in.

Police say they believe the woman may be hiding in the area. Theyare asking residents to be vigilant and take noteof anything displaced or unusual in and around their properties.

Family and friends have been providing information on areas to check, police said.

Some likely hiding places could includecampers, vehicles, boats, sheds and thick brush.

Sabineis described as five feet five inches tall, with a thin build, short brown hair. She may be wearing Prince County Hospital pants and top. Police say it's unlikely she's wearing the glasses she's seen wearing in her photo.
