Summerside police, Prince County Hospital warn of door-to-door donation scam

Summerside police and the Prince County Hospital are warning the public about a door-to-door scam involving two males soliciting donations for the hospital's intensive-care unit.

On Feb. 9, police received two calls just minutes apart from people in the Duke and Elm Street areas reporting that two males were going to homes asking for donations.

"Typically, the PCH Foundation does not perform 'door-to-door' canvassing in such a manner," Prince County Hospital officials said in a written statement released Friday.

"In the event that such a campaign existed, the volunteers would have PCH Foundation identification and a letter proving their mission."

The males are described as possibly in their 20s, scruffy and of average build. One is described as approximately 5'10" tall, while the other could be between 5'2 and 5'5 tall. One was wearing a dark hoodie.

They were seen getting into a vehicle described as an older-model white Chevrolet Cobalt with a black stripe along the bottom and a fin on the trunk.
