Prince District RCMP say alcohol and speed appear to have played a role in a fatal accident in Tignish early Saturday morning.

RCMP says they were called around 4:15 a.m. to Route 2 after a vehicle lost control taking a corner and slammed into a hydro and light pole.

Officials say the 29-year-old man driving was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

RCMP sent in a collision analyst to investigate further, but do say alcohol, excessive speed and not using a seat belt appear to be contributing factors.
