Montague wants plan to deal with Amish horse traffic and droppings

Town officials in Montague, P.E.I. are being proactive in dealing with something residents and tourists haven't seen or dealt with before at least not in the 21st century horse traffic and horse droppings.

Now that several Amish families have settled in locations near the town, officials are wondering how to deal with it.

Chief Administrative Officer Andy Daggett said he contacted people who work with the Amish families make two requests.

"We want to make sure that things are as safe as possible. Main Street is very busy so we are encouraging them to use some of the streets that run parallel to Main Street hopefully that will alleviate most of the traffic congestion and any safety problems we might experience," said Daggett.

Daggett said the requests are a proactive approach to make sure everything runs smoothly this summer and there have been no concerns so far.

"I haven't seen any [droppings] yet."
