2 Island police officers recognized by PEI Crime Stoppers

A Charlottetown police officer and an RCMP member from the Queens District were selected as police officers of the year by PEI Crime Stoppers.

A Charlottetown police officer and an RCMP member from theQueens District were selected as police officers of the year byPEI Crime Stoppers.

Cst. TimKeizerof the Charlottetown Police Services received the2017Municipal Police Officer of the Year award.

He was recognized for his ongoing and committed work with young people inschools and youth sports as well as hisinvolvement in community initiatives and activities.

Traffic safety

Cst. StephenDugganof the Queens District office received the2017Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer of the Year.

He was recognized for his work in promoting highway safety throughout the province and, in particular, relating to impaired driving, distracted driving and seatbelt use.

Duggan'snomination cited his efforts in the education aspect of traffic safety and his passion in getting the message out to the public in particular to younger drivers.

National Police Week

The awards were presented May 19 duringNational Police Week.

The nominations for the two awards were judged by a panelby a three person panel consisting of a retired RCMP officer, a retired Charlottetown Police Services officer and a member of the PEI Crime Stoppers board of directors.

Cst. Jonathan Kennedy of the Summerside Police Service was selected as runner up for theMunicipal Police Officer of the Year andCst. KimDudleyof Queens Districtwas theRoyal Canadian Mounted Police Officer of the Year.
