The University of Prince Edward Island remains in the top 10 of Maclean's magazine's annual university rankings.

In fact, UPEI is now ranked eighth in the country for primarily undergraduate universities. That's up from the #10 spotlast year.

"Well, rankings can swing from year to year and the Maclean's version is really but one way to evaluate success," said Penny Walsh-McGuire, director of marketing and communications at UPEI.

"We are proud, of course, that we've ranked highly in the areas that are student-focused and are certainly key priorities for our strategic plan. So, for example, we are in the top five for student awards as well as total research dollars. You know, student-faculty ratios were also high as well as scholarships and bursaries."

Walsh-McGuire said the administration was also pleased about UPEI's above-average ranking in the recent Globe and Mail Canadian University Report.
