Charlottetown's Upstreet Brewery has started bottling its beer, and it will soon be available on liquor store shelves.

Upstreet opened as a brewpub in June, with beer available on tap and in growlers, but the building includes a bottling area, and bottling began two weeks ago.

About 10,000 bottles have been produced, 2,500 of each of the four styles of beer.

Mitch Cobb, co-founder of Upstreet, said the bottles are currently available in the tasting room.

"We've kind of been sort of stockpiling for Christmas a bit," said Cobb.

"We've been selling a lot of bottles out of the tap room. So that's really sort of the only indication that we have right now as to how popular they'll be once they go in the liquor stores, but we're pretty confident that we'll be able to sell quite a few."

Cobb said it's likely the company will be hiring more people to help with the bottling.

Upstreet beer will be available at liquor stores across P.E.I. starting this Friday.
