P.E.I. woman seeks help finding family wedding rings

A woman is hoping the kindness of strangers will help her find two sets of cherished wedding rings and bands lost on the day of the Gold Cup and Saucer Parade.

Rhoda Mary Doull of Central Bedeque, P.E.I. says she was planning to take the sets to a jeweller's to be resized so she could wear them again when she lost them.

"As far as I know my wedding ring set and my mother's wedding ring set was in my purse in a little white box and my granddaughter and myself were at the Charlottetown parade and that's the last time I saw the little box."

Doull said she thinks she lost it in front of or near the Confederation Centre, the location where she sat and watched the parade.

Checked pawn shops

The missing rings have been reported to the police in Charlottetown and Summerside. Both departments checked the pawn shops, something Doull said she did as well.

"It's quite a sentimental loss for me, for my mother's rings and mine."

Doull said she doesn't know how the rings got out of her purse. "I just presume they're lost but I don't really know, they just weremissing."

Doull and her husband will soon be celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary and she hopes to the have rings back.

"It's a big loss because you know you can never replace something like that no matter what you have, you can never replace those."

Doull said she had been unable to wear them because arthritis in her knuckle made it difficult for her to get the rings back on when she did have to take them off. She added each set wassolderedtogether previously.

Reward offered

The senior is offering a reward for the return of the rings. "They mean so much to me and they mean a lot to my husband too."

Doull described the ring bands of her wedding set as more rounded and her mother's set as more flat on the bands. She said her ring has a large diamond in the centre and two smaller diamonds on the side.

The bands aregold except where the diamonds are and there are flowers engraved in white gold on the top of the band.

Doull said her mother's alsohad a large diamond. She added both sets were in small white box with a tight-fitting hinged lid.

"It would mean everything," said Doull when asked what it would mean to have the rings back. "I've suffered chest pains and sleepless nights and all kinds of things...it's hard to concentrate on my work."
