A Charlottetown woman has been sentenced to eight months in jail for stabbing her boyfriend.

Julie Lynn Gaudet, 34, pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon in connection with the attack last month, on Palmers Lane in the Parkdale neighbourhood. The victim was not seriously injured.

Court heard the stabbing followed an argument over some methadone that was taken from the man. Gaudet has been in custody since her arrest March 4. At a sentencing hearing last week, she was given two months' credit for time served.

Gaudet will be on probation for two years after her release.
