100 army reservists to join firefighting effort in Sask.

More than 500 members of Canadian Forces are in Saskatchewan's wildfire zones, and now about 100 reservists are being called up to join the fight.

More than 500 members of Canadian Forces are in Saskatchewan's wildfire zones, and now about100 reservists are being called up to join the fight.

Officials said Friday that the reservists will be leaving Saskatoon,Regina andMoose Jaw todayfor forest fire work being conducted north of Prince Albert.

The part time soldiers have been preparing for their deployment throughout the week.

Beforethe reservists were called up, there were 1,300 people involved fighting fires, either directly on the fire line or in support roles.

Dozens of helicopters and water bombers are dropping water on the fires.

On Friday, 119 fires were burning in northern Saskatchewan, officials said.
