Saskatchewan's welcomed 1,094 Syrian refugees, government says
Saskatchewan has taken in more than 1,000 Syrian refugees since mid-December 2015.
Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert received most since mid-December 2015
The Government of Saskatchewan has released its latest numbers of Syrian refugees being brought to settle in the province.
As of Tuesday, 1,094 refugees from Syria have been brought to Saskatchewan since the federal government started the push in mid-December 2015.

Five communities have received most of the newcomers:
- Regina (447)
- Saskatoon (439)
- Moose Jaw (113)
- Prince Albert (87)
- Lumsden (8)
About five more are settlingin both Swift Current and Waldheim, Sask.
The numbers include both government and privately sponsored refugees, as well as refugees who are privately sponsored but given government assistance.
The vast majority of the province's refugees are government sponsored.
