2nd dog dies in hot car in Saskatoon

For the second time in two weeks, a dog has died in Saskatoon after allegedly being left unattended in a car on a hot day.

For the second time in three weeks, a dog has died in Saskatoon after allegedly being left unattended in a car on a hot day.

The Saskatoon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it's alleged the owner left the animal in the car for an hour while the owner was inside a home.

The dog was given water, but was overcome by heat.

SPCA is warning people that it is dangerous to leave an animal alone in a vehicle when it's hot.Temperatures in Saskatchewan have been well above normal the past week, hitting the low 30s C in a number of communities.

In Saskatoon, it's the second dog to die in similar circumstances in the past three weeks.

On Aug. 31, a pug died after being trapped in a hot car outside a shopping mall.

The SPCA is considering recommending charges against the owner.
