Some might see squirrels as pesky rodents.

But to Megan Lawrence, they're lovable critters who deserve a chance at life.

Lawrence has taken in four baby squirrels at her Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre in Regina.

"We take in all birds, mammals and reptiles and we believe that they all deserve a second chance to be wild and free again," Lawrence said.

The squirrels were found in the attic of a home in the town of Regina Beach. Their mother abandoned them after giving birth.

Lawrence is feeding the two-week-old babies special formula with an eye dropper.

When the animals are 12 weeks old, Lawrence said the plan is to release them into the wild.

"We try not to get attached to any of our patients, but it is a bittersweet moment when we release them," she said. "For the most part, it's very happy. We let them go back to the wild where they belong and it's a great thing to see."
