5-year-old hit when bullets fired at home on Lac La Ronge Indian Band

A five-year-old suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after a home on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band was shot multiple times, according to RCMP.

A five-year-old was hit by one of multiple bullets fired at a home on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band was shot at multiple times, according to RCMP.

Officers were sent to the scenearound 9:15 p.m. CST Sunday.RCMP said the suspects hadfled the scene by the time officers arrived.

The five-year-old, one of multiple people in the home at the time,suffered seriousbut non-life threateninginjuriesafter a bullet penetrated the walls, according to police.

The child was treated on scene then taken to hospital.

RCMP General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section have been called in to assist according to a police release. The investigation remains ongoing.

  • A previous version of this story said the five-year-old was the only person in the house when the shots were fired. In fact, police said there was more than one person.
