An Amber Alert issued for two young boys by RCMP in La Ronge, Sask., was deactivated early Thursday after the boys were found, with no evidence of physical injuries.

The boys were located at a residence in St. Louis, Sask., with arrangements being made to return them to their families.

According to RCMP, an 18-year-old man who was taken into custody when the children were found is facing two charges of abduction of a child and two counts of breaching an undertaking.

They said that shortly before 8 p.m. CST on Thursday, they received a complaint about a male youth having been taken by an adult man with a possible destination of Prince Albert. RCMP were also told that a second boy was possibly with them.

RCMP said the three had been observed, walking together, earlier in the day in the La Ronge area.

They noted that a separate investigation was underway involving a report, Thursday afternoon, about the theft of a van from a home in La Ronge. When investigators paired that information with the missing child investigation and noted that the suspect was on an undertaking to not have any contact with children under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult RCMP activated the Amber Alert.

Extensive patrols were done and, at 12:55 a.m. CST Thursday, RCMP members from the Wakaw detachment located the suspect van in St. Louis.

Shortly after that the missing children were found and the man was arrested.

RCMP said the man charged is from the La Ronge area and was set to appear in provincial court on Thursday.
