Assault, drunk driving among charges on 1st day at Craven

Alcohol and rowdy behaviour were frequently involved in the first batch of charges laid by police at the Craven Country Jamboree.

Alcohol and rowdy behaviourwere frequentlyinvolved inthefirst batch of charges laid by police at the Craven Country Jamboree.

In the first 24 hours of the annual Saskatchewan music festival, there werethree impaired drivers charged andfive roadside suspensions, eitheron the grounds orthe surrounding area, RCMP Insp.Ted Munro told reporters Friday.

Among the alleged offences was an assault with a weapon, althoughMunro provided few details.

"To my knowledge, there's no injuries that took place," Munro said.

Other offences where charges were laid or tickets given out include:

  • Disturbing the peace: 4
  • Mischief to property: 3
  • Liquor Act violations: 6
  • Traffic collisions: 3
  • Traffic Tickets: 73

Seven people have been taken into custody in the first 24 hours, the RCMP said.

The Craven Country Jamboree runs to July 17.
