ATV driver struck, dragged Sask. park officer: RCMP

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle accused of hitting and dragging a Saskatchewan environment ministry park officer on Sunday is now facing five criminal charges.

RCMP have laid five charges after a park officer was hit by an ATV on the weekend in Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

The driver of an all-terrain vehicle accused of hitting and dragging a Saskatchewan environment ministry parkofficer on Saturdayis now facing five criminal charges.

He's also been charged with four Criminal Code driving offences plus assaulting a peace officerfollowing alleged incidents in Duck Mountain Provincial Park on Sunday.

According to the KamsackRCMP, just after 3:30 p.m. CST, environment ministry officerswere trying to stopan ATV that had a driver and one passenger. It was a "side-by-side" ATV, police said.

The suspects fled, but were located later on a trail in the park.

Two parkofficers who were on foot tried to stop it. One was struck by the ATV and was dragged for a short distance.

He received minor injuries and was treated and released from hospital.

The other officer got out of the way and wasn't injured.
