North Battleford police received 97 calls for service on the weekend.

Even by the normal standards of North Battleford RCMP, it was a wildweekend of crimes both small and big.

Complaints about a big bar brawl, a stolen cement mixer, and Grinch who stole Christmas presents from a vehicle were among the calls police in theSaskatchewan city of 14,000 received on the weekend.

Like police in a number of communities, Mounties in North Battleford release "blotters" listing the calls officers are dispatched to every day.

For reasons unknown, North Battleford seems to have more than its share of unusual crimes and complaints.

Here are the details of four incidents from the weekend:

Good Samaritan Victimized A womangave a ride to anotherwomanand stopped to get gas.

While she was at the gas station, the passengertook off in hercar. The complainant gave police the licence plate and they're investigating.

"Looks like at this point, it was a Good Samaritanwho offered this girl a ride into town," Sgt. Amber Clark of the RCMP said.

Stolen Cement Mixer The big vehicle was stolen from a yard on 102nd Street. It's believed it occurred sometime over the previous two days. The mixer is described as being "very old" with some "home repair" modifications on it.

Big Bar Brawl What started as a complaint of a man being assaulted outside a local licensed premise on Railway Avenue soon escalated to "bar brawl."

Reports said 15 to 20people were fighting, with some patrons getting injured. Up tonine police officers were sent to the bar, but by the time theyarrived, the majority of the suspects had cleared out.

"We're still trying to sort out who had a problem with who, but we know there was an altercation between a lot of people who were pretty intoxicated," Clark said.

Grinch Steals Presents Someone stole Christmas presents from a truck that had been left parked on 109th Street overnight. Even worse, the truck was vandalized. The thief or thieves ripped out the middle console from the interior.

In total, there were 97 calls for service on the weekend. The majority of those calls werealcohol-related, Clark said.
