Emergency department being cleaned at Victoria Hospital

Bedbugs are parastic insects that live on blood.

A cleanup is underway after bedbugs were found at the hospital in Prince Albert, Sask.

The health region said Tuesday that two areas of the Victoria Hospital emergency department will be unavailable until they are thoroughly cleaned and no more evidence of the bugs is found.

That's expected to take several hours.

The disruption may lead to some longer wait times in emergency, particular for less urgent care, the health region says.

In the meantime, it's suggesting that people withnon-urgent concerns may want to consider contacting their family physiciansor attending one of the walk-in clinics in Prince Albert.
