'It's a real shock': Body found in Regina's Howell Park, police investigating

Police and EMS were sent to the 2700 block of Howell Drive to investigate a report of a dead body on a pathway. EMS confirmed the person was deceased and no further details have been released.

Police are asking people to stay out of the area

Residents who live around a park in Glencarin were shocked to learn a body was discovered on a path parkway Sunday morning.

Jean Urban has lived across from Howell Parkfor 30 years and said the incident is out of place for the residentialneighbourhood.

"It's a real shock because we live right across the street from the park where it happened and it's always quiet, no noises out at all and we have the best neighbours ever," Urban said Sunday.

"Really, really nice neighbourhood."

Police and emergency crews rushed to the 2700 block of Howell Drive around 8:30 a.m., after receiving a report a person been discovered dead on a pathway connecting to Howell Park.

Police have confirmed the death, but not released the deceased's identity or any details about the circumstances surrounding what happened.

There is currently no threat to safety in theneighbourhood, but the incident is being treated as suspicious.

As of Sunday morning, the park was closed to the public. Uniformed officersand those in plain clothes were going door-to-door, asking neighbours for information.
