Boy, 17, charged following fire at Regina house

Regina police have charged a 17-year-old boy with arson in connection with a house fire on the 1000 block of Garnet St. on the weekend.

Regina police have charged a 17-year-old boy with arson in connection with a house fire on the 1000 block of Garnet St.on the weekend.

The teen, whose name can't be published, has also been charged with breaking and entering and failing to comply with a prior sentence.

Fire crews were called to the address in the city's north central neighbourhood at around 12:30 a.m. CST on Sunday.
Smoke was seen coming from the house, which was believed to be vacant.

Fightfighters extinguished the blaze.

A witness spotted a male running from the address, police said.

It's one of a number of house fires Regina fire crews have been called to in recent weeks.
