Calgary man, 35, killed in Monday's 2-semi crash on southeast Sask. highway

RCMP say the person killed in a crash involving two semis near Wolseley, Sask., on Monday was a 35-year-old Calgary man.

Indian Head RCMP say investigation determined a moving semi struck a second semi that was parked on the shoulder ofHighway 1 near Wolseley, about 100 kilometres east of Regina.

The passengerin the first semi was declared dead at the sceneby EMS. His full identity has not been released, but RCMP say he was a 35-year-old man from Calgary.

The male driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the RCMP. Nobody was in the parked semi.

Photos and videos shared on trucking groups on social media show heavy damage to the semis.Debris can be seen scattered on the road.

According to theHighway Hotline, the crash happened just before 8 a.m. CST Monday and Highway 1 was closed in the aftermath. Indian Head RCMP say the highway has opened since.

RCMPsay theinvestigation into the cause of the crash continues with assistance from a collision reconstructionist.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Indian Head RCMP.
