PGA golfer Graham DeLaet may not have won big this weekend, but he did score some money for people who need it.

Earlier this week, the Weyburn, Sask., product pledged to donate $500 to the Canadian Red Cross for every birdie he made at the Wells Fargo Championship.

In the end, DeLaet finished with 11 birdies in total and will now donate $5,500 to help fire victims in Fort McMurray, Alta.

DeLaet finished with just one birdie on Sunday, scoring a 78 or six over par. He finished the tournament eightover par.

DeLaet, through the Graham and Ruby DeLaet Foundation, also set up a fundraising page online for Fort McMurray. As of Sunday afternoon, more than $16,000 had been donated. Find it here.

Fellow Saskatchewan-born golfer Adam Hadwin joined in the effort, also donating $500 per birdie.
