The Third Avenue United Church, a familiar and cherished landmark in Saskatoon, is going up for sale but with conditions aimed at preserving the building.

The Third Avenue United Church, a familiar and cherished landmark in Saskatoon, is going up for sale but with conditions aimed at preserving the building.

The for sale sign is set to go up within days, but any buyer must agree to ensure the building is not torn down and religious services must be allowed to continue.

John Parry, secretary of the church's board, said the conditional sale plan should meet everyone's needs.

"We're looking at the future of this magnificent building which is not only architecturally splendid outside, but acoustically and architecturally amazing inside," Parry said.

The building has already attracted a potential buyer who may convert the church into a concert hall.

The property has become a favoured venue for a number of performers.

Church members have been trying toraise money for repairsof the building, including a much-needed new roof which is estimated to cost $400,000.
