Bail approved for accused drunk driver Colby Heid

The 19-year-old Regina man charged with impaireddriving causing the death of Tanner Kaufmann has been granted bail.

On Thursday, a provincial court judge set bail for Colby Heid at $1,000.

Under the terms of his release, he's banned from driving, is prohibited from drinking alcohol and must obey a curfew.

Heidis alleged to have collided withKaufmann'struck on a rural road north of Regina on Sunday afternoon, killing the 37-year-old marriedfather of two.

A friend of the victim, David Limacher, as well asKaufmann family, said they do not agree with the judge's decision to grant bail.

"It's an example of why drunk driving is such a problem in Saskatchewan," Limacher said.

Heidis scheduled to be back in court onOct.13.
