Cricket makes cover of Regina summer leisure guide

In perhaps a sign of the times, cricket has made the cover of the City of Regina summer leisure guide even though it's not one of the program offerings.

In perhaps a sign of the times, cricket has made the cover of the City of Regina summer leisure guide even though it's not one of the program offerings.

A paper copyof theannual summerguide, eagerly awaited by parents,is being delivered to homes todayMay 5.

The guide contains programs such as swimming lessons and sports campsthat run from June 1Aug.31.

A cricket program forkids 10 to 14was offered in the city's winter-spring guide, but it's not mentioned in the summer guide.

Immigration from countries where cricket is a big sport hasswelled the numbers recentlyin Regina. Plans are in the works to build some cricket practice facilities, including one close to the south leisure centre.

People who live in Regina can begin registration for summer leisure activitieson May 12 at 7 a.m. CST. People who live outside the city can register May 14 beginning at 7 a.m.

Registering can be doneonline using the city's e-registrationpage. Peoplecan also register by phone at306-777-7529, or in person at the following city recreation centres:

  • Fieldhouse
  • Lawson Aquatic Centre
  • Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre
  • North West Leisure Centre
  • Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre
