An international cricket tournament brought athletes from all over the world to Regina this weekend.

Teams travelled from as far as India and Bangladesh to take part in theBig Bash T20 Cricket Tournament

For those unfamiliar with the sport, it's similar to baseball according to Manjeet Singh from the Saskatchewan Cricket Association.

"We have a few guys who used to play baseball and now they have joined. Those are usually pretty good players, especially good batters because of their eye hand co-ordination. They're able to hit home runs," said Singh.

The sport has spread across much of the world and is picking up popularity in Canada.

"Immigration and a lot of people moving from the countries where cricket is big has caused cricket to grow quite a big deal," said Singh.

Games will be played at Regina's Douglas Park and Grassick Park. The tournament will wrap up with a championship game Monday afternoon.
