Death of girl, 16, was homicide, suspect arrested, Regina police say

Police say the death of a 16-year-old girl, whose body was found Monday afternoon in a north Regina home is now a homicide investigation adding a suspect in the case is in custody.

Police say the death of a 16-year-old girl, whose body was found Monday afternoon in a north Regina home is now a homicide investigation adding a suspect in the case is in custody.

The identity of the girl has been confirmed and her family has been notified, but her name will not be released at this time, police said. They added the suspect who is in custody is a male but provided no other details.

The discovery of the victim was made Monday at a residenceon the 400 block of Garnet St. N. in the Coronation Park neighbourhood. Police said officers were sent to the home around 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report about an injured or possibly dead person.

The Regina police'smajor crimes unit is working on the investigation.
