Doucette back as Metis Nation of Sask. president

Robert Doucette has been re-elected as president of the Mtis Nation of Saskatchewan.

Robert Doucette has been re-elected as president of the Mtis Nation of Saskatchewan.

In the weekendMNS elections, Doucette received 1,015 votes, 35 per cent of the 2,905 votes cast.

The closest of the five challengers was Mavis Taylor, who received 548 votes.

Mtis voters also gave Gerald Morin the nod for vice-president. He defeated two other candidates and received 1,221 out of 2,739 votes.

The organization's secretary, treasurer and regional representatives were also elected on the weekend.

Here are the unofficial results from the vote for president.

  • Robert Doucette, 1,015votes.
  • Mavis Taylor, 548 votes.
  • Maureen Belanger, 468 votes.
  • Raymond Laliberte, 451 votes.
  • Wayne McKenzie, 355 votes.
  • Bryan Lee, 68 votes.
