Hundreds of people gathered Thursday at the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina for a noon hour meal ahead of the Easter long weekend.

About 300 people enjoyed ham and fixings

Hundreds of people gathered Thursday at the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina for a noon hour meal ahead of the Easter long weekend.

The event was for men, women and children in the community in need of a nutritious and delicious holiday meal.

It featured a free meal of ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, coleslaw, cabbage roll casserole and buns as well as coffee or juice and dessert.

Easter gifts were also provided.

Volunteers prepared and served the meal.

"I love to be with people and I like to help my fellow people have a meal," Margaret Akachuck, one of the people who helped out, said. "I love talking to people."
