Regina police charge 1 man, 3 boys with 2nd-degree murder

A man and three teenage boys have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a death in Regina on the weekend.

A man and three teenage boys have been charged with second-degree murder in thedeath of a 26-year-old Reginaman on the weekend.

The four accused appeared brieflyin provincial court Monday morning where matters were adjourned.

After getting a call about an injured man, police arrived at an addresson the 700 block of Garnet St. in the North Central area Saturday at about1:43 a.m. CST.

They found the injured man, who was taken to hospital where he was confirmed dead later in the day.

Police announced the charges Sunday night. It's the city's first homicide of 2016.

The four accused includea man, 22, and three boys, ages 14, 15 and 17.

Police identified the adultas Skylar Blue Alexson. The names of the teens cannot be published under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The man who died has been identified asJoshua Michael Harden, 26.

On Monday, police provided some details on what they think happened. It's believedthe male suspects had emerged from ahouse on Garnetand an altercation occurred between them and Harden.

When Harden collapsed, the males allegedly fled back into the house. Police located the fouras well asfive females in the house and took them into custody.

The females were released without being charged.
