The weather has turned around, but progress on the Saskatchewan harvest is still way behind normal and some crops have been hit by frost.

The weekly report issued Thursday by the province shows 23 per cent of the crop has been combined.
That compares to the five-year average of 43 per cent.

Frost is a perennial concern at this time of year, and the grain belt has already seen several nights with temperatures dropping below zero.

The damage last week varied from minimal to severe in the case of some late-seeded crops, the Agriculture Ministry said.

It didn't provide any details on the extent of the frost damage.

Meanwhile, the greatest progress on harvesthas been made in the southwest with close to a third of the crop in the bin.

East-central Saskatchewan is significantly behind, with just 11 per cent of the harvest completed.
