Funeral set for 3 teens killed in crash near Spalding

Carter Stevenson, Justin Gaja, and Kristian Skalicky, the three teenage boys killed in a crash near Spalding, Sask., this weekend will be laid to rest in a joint service, their families say.

It will happen Monday afternoon at the Carrot River Community Centre.

The teens, aged 14, 15 and 17, played together on their high school football team, and were on their way back from training in Regina when they were killed.

According to RCMP, they were stopped at a construction zone on Highway 6 when a semi-truck slammed into them from behind.

All three were declared dead at the scene.

RCMP continue to investigate, but have not laid any charges.

Moving tribute by MLA

MLA Fred Bradshaw delivered a moving tribute to the youths in a member's statement at the Saskatchewan Legislature Wednesday.

"This loss has shaken our tight knit community of Carrot River and the Carrot River Junior Senior High School to the core," Bradshaw said. "[The youths] had their whole lives ahead of them: school, hockey, drama, and friends, and now forever gone."
