Nine bathrooms at the new Mosaic Stadium will be gender-neutral, the city of Regina says. An additional four bathrooms, of the same style, will be in theMmawyatitnCentre, a new community complex in North Central Regina.

"Diversity and inclusion is a priority for city council and the administration, so this comes from a consultation with the community and our efforts to be more inclusive as the community grows in diversity,"said Laurie Shalley director of community services with the city of Regina.

Bathrooms will be individual

"They are single toilet, single sink. They are available to a person who identifies as transgender. It might be a parent with a child of the oppositegender. They will also be available to a person with a disability," Shalley said.

As for existing city buildings, the city will not be transforming bathrooms to gender-neutral.

"Aperson who is transgender is able to use the bathroom of the gender that they identify with," said Shalley"We've trained staff in the rights ofpeople whoidentify astransgender. We've also trained our staff in public complaints to deal with that."

The new Mosaic Stadium will have nine gender-neutral washrooms.
