The grandmother of two teens who died in the Saskatchewan school shooting in La Loche is asking the community to forgive the accused shooter.

The grandmother of two teens who are dead after a shooting in La Loche, Sask., is asking people to forgive the accused shooter.

On Friday people were shot in a home and at the community school in La Loche. Four are dead and seven more injured. A 17-year-old boy has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder. He also faces one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The grandmother is also related to the accused shooter.

"It really hurts," she told CBC. "So please, you people of La Loche, please forgive him for what he did. We don't know. We don't know what it is."

She is asking the community to forgive her family.

"I don't want them to look down on us because I didn't force him to do it. His mother didn't force him to do it. His dad didn't force him to do it."

The 17-year-old made his first court appearance on Monday in Meadow Lake.
