Homicide victim Lisa Strang remembered by Premier Brad Wall

Premier Brad Wall is paying tribute to homicide victim Lisa Strang, whose body was found in her home in McLean, Sask., on the weekend.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall has paidtribute to homicide victim Lisa Strang, whose body was found in her home in the village ofMcLeanon Saturday.

For the past 11 years,Strangwas the finance directorofthe Saskatchewan Party, whichWall leads.

"It is with sadness I write to you today to let you know of the passing of our friend and colleague Lisa Strang," Wall said in a post on the SaskatchewanParty Facebookpage.

"She was a dedicated member of our team and to many of you she is an amazing source of information and guidance," Wall said. "Although the details of her passing are still yet unclear, Lisa's passing has left a hole in our Saskatchewan Party family."

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced yet.

John Robert Strang, the woman's husband, has been charged with first-degree murder. Police arrested him near North Battlefordearly Monday.

In McLean, which is about 40 kilometres east of Regina, residents found the slaying difficult to comprehend.

"Everybody'sshocked and saddened for her and wondering why someone would do that," Tanja Wilson told CBC News Tuesday.

Wilson saidthe Strangs were longtime homeowners in McLean, but mostly kept to themselves.

She said the accused"just seemed like a normal person when you'd meet him on the road walking his dogs."

Strang remains in custody after making an appearance before a justice of the peace. He is set to appear in provincial courtin Reginaon Thursday morning.

According to RCMP, the victim was found in her home around 11 p.m. CST on Saturday.

John Strangwas immediatelyidentified as a suspect. RCMP said the man's vehicle was observed around 11:30 p.m. Sunday heading north onHighway 29,some 400 kilometres northwest of McLean.

RCMP said that once additional officers were in place, they were able to make contact with Strangand he was taken into custody.

Police noted thatafter he waswas arrested, he was taken to hospital in Battleford for treatment of minor injuries that occurred prior to his contact with police.After treatment and an assessment by a physician, he was released to RCMPcustody.
