More than 300 people received a piece of the holiday from the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina on Saturday.

The mission hosted its annual meal for those who might not otherwise be able to afford an Easter dinner.

Katrina Robinson works at the mission and said it's important to make this kind of wholesome environment accessible to everyone.

"We really want to create an opportunity for people to still enjoy the holidays and get that community piece and positive family memories and get a really nutritious meal in the process," Robinson said.

Ham, scalloped potatoes and other Easter fixings were all on the menu.

Wade Anderson, one of the attendees, said he is grateful for the opportunity because he has fallen on hard times and the cost of living in the city has put a strain on his finances.

"The place I'm at, I'm probably running $1,100 or $1,200 from the rent and utilities," Anderson said. "It's just outrageous."

About 75 volunteers helped put on the event.

SoulsHarbour also provides meals every week day and special community gatherings on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
