With the Saskatchewan provincial election happening tomorrow, the leaders of the two biggest political parties are on the last day of their campaign trails.

The Sask. Party made a stop in Prince Albert this morning at 9 a.m. CST where party leader Scott Moe asked for the community's support for candidates Alana Ross of Prince Albert Northcote and Joe Hargrave of Carlton.

Yesterday, the Sask. Party announced Ross is currently self-isolating after being identified as having contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

While Ross has no symptoms of the virus, the Sask. Party said she will receive a test and self-isolate for the recommended period of time. This will extend through the remainder of the campaign and election day.

"I think that this is a reminder for all of us that this COVID-19 virus does not discriminate," Scott Moe said. "It is in our communities and we all need to do our level best to ensure that we are reducing the spread."

While speaking in Prince Albert this morning, Moe talked about some of the things the Sask. Party will do if they win their fourth consecutive term.

"We are going to reduce the small business tax rate to zero, we are going to reduce everyone's power bill whether it be families, whether it be small businesses, whether that be farms by 10per cent," Moe said. "To ensure that they are investing back into their local economy."

Moe also said, if elected, the Sask. Party government would invest in a "new and expanded" Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.

The opposition is busy on the campaign trail today as well, with NDP leader Ryan Meili making five stops in Saskatoon and he started at 10:30 a.m. CST this morning with Churchill-Wildwood.

While speaking with a crowd behind him in Saskatoon, Meili talked about how he thinks Saskatchewan residents are ready for a change in government.

"People also know what to expect from New Democrats, they know that with New Democrats they'll get a government that will put people first, they'll get smaller class sizes, safer long-term care, shorter wait times, higher wages and more jobs right here in Saskatchewan," Meili said.

"That's our plan and that's what we're ready to deliver, and that's what people are looking for."

Meili will also campaign in Prince Albert at 3:30 p.m. CST for the Carlton and Northcote regions, and will also be in Batoche for a whistle-stop event.

Election day is tomorrow and polls open at 9 a.m across the province.

Due to the rising numbers of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, Elections Saskatchewan has said it "strongly encourages" people to wear masks when casting their ballot, but it isn't requiring masks to be worn at polling stations.

Clarifications

  • A previous version of this story stated Alana Ross was the candidate for North Battleford Northcote. In fact, she is the candidate for Prince Albert Northcote.
