Lau new leader of Saskatchewan Greens

The Saskatchewan Green Party has chosen Victor Lau as its new leader after a weekend meeting.

The Saskatchewan Green Party has chosen Victor Lau as its new leader after a weekend meeting.

Lau, who will be the party's candidate in Regina Douglas Park, has been heading up the party on an interim basis since the Sept. 6 resignation of Larissa Shasko.

Lau, a longtime union activist who has run in numerous campaigns for theGreen Party,became leaderafter picking up 63 votes ata leadership meeting on Sunday.

Larry Waldinger, who's running in Saskatoon Sutherland, came in second with 38 votes.

Brendan Crosscame in third with three votes.

The party, which has never won a seat in Saskatchewan, is looking for candidates to run in about 20 more constituencies around the province.

The provincial election, the first since the province moved to fixed election dates, is to be held Nov. 7.
