Man charged in death of woman found in Regina alley

Regina police have charged a 32-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a young woman back in September.

The body of 21-year-old Kelly Nicole Goforth was found in the back alley of the 1700 block of McAra St. east of the downtown in the evening of Sept. 25.

Officers responded to a call that there was a sick or injured person in the alley, which is located in an industrial area of the city.

Clayton Bo Eichler of Regina was arrested on New Year's eve and has been charged with Goforth's death.

Goforth's family, who spoke with CBC News at the time of her death, described her as a strong woman of faith with dreams of becoming a model.

Her sister, who lived with her said she started to worry when Goforth didn't come home after a trip to the store.

That same day the family got word of her death from police.

Some family members mourned Goforth by bringing butterflies over to her house, which her sister said is a symbol of Goforth's traditional name "Kamamakoose."

Eichler is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m. CST.
