Man shot to death in La Loche

A man is dead and four people have been arrested followed a shooting in La Loche, Sask., Sunday night.

A man is dead and four people have been arrested followed a shooting in La Loche, Sask.,Sunday night.

RCMP have released few details, but said they received a call about a fatal shooting at 7:30 p.m. CST.

Four suspects are in custody but no charges have been laid, the RCMP said.

Apasserbytold CBC Newshe saw what appeared to be a body by the side of the road under a blue tarp, with another object under a similar tarp on the other side of the road.

Both were just a few metres from the local RCMP detachment.

The dead man's name hasn't been released, pending notification of family members, the RCMP said.

Some other information is being withheld as well, while the RCMP investigates, Staff Sgt. Rod Ens said.

"We do know what type of a firearm was used. We're treating it as a homicide. And really that's all the detail I can give out at this time,"Ens said.

Local officers have called in the RCMP's major crime unit, a police dog and forensic detectives to help with the case.

La Loche is about 500 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
