Marriage proposal puts hitch in Regina pride parade

The Queen City Pride Parade was brought to a halt on Saturday by a declaration of love.

People started cheering and clapping near the end of the parade in Regina's downtown when Dani Halvorson's partner, Stephanie Mack, saw a banner made by Halvorson asking Mack to marry her.

Mack, tears streaming from her eyes, accepted.

"Oh God, I never expected that!" Mack said.

The two were immediately surrounded by a group of people who offered the happy couple hugs and congratulations.

The parade is one of many events that happened this past week as part of the Queen City Pride Festival.

It wraps up this evening with a barbecue at the Gay and Lesbian Community of Regina Club.
