It's one of the mildest winters Saskatchewan has seen in many years and the balmy temperatures are likely to continue, Environment Canada says.

Regina had only 11 days below 20 C this winter, compared to 42 last year, according to Dave Phillips, senior climatologist with Environment Canada.

"I certainly think people will remember this year," he said.

"Last year was a littler milder than normal. This has been almost tropical by prairie standards, and we just don't think it's going to go away."

A number of records for high temperatures have been broken this winter, he said."For example, this February ... I think it'll come out to be the warmest in 85 years."

The mild temperatures can be expected to continue into March, Phillips said.
