More Sask. Crown execs joined $300K club in 2014

A total of 39 Crown corporation bosses made $300,000-plus salaries last year, according to an annual report.

Who was pulling in the big bucks at Saskatchewan Crown corporations last year? Check out our graphic below for the top five. According to the annual payee disclosure report, 39 executives made more than $300,000.

Eight moreCrown corporation bosseshave joined the $300,000 club, according to an annual payee reportreleased on Friday.

In 2014, there were 39 executives and senior managers at Saskatchewan Crownswho earned more than that.The year prior, 31 executives were making$300,000 or more.

The salaries are included inthepayee disclosure reportreleased by Crown Investments Corp., which oversees other publicly ownedCrowns, such as SaskTel, SaskPower and SaskEnergy.

SaskTel's Ron Styles toppedthe list of high earners, takinghome$546,844 last year. He was also the highest-earningCEO in 2013,when his salary was$499,492.

SGI presidentAndrewCartmellis the runner up, having earned $464,635 in 2014. His salary went up$32,632.

SGI had most execs earning $300K or more

Of the eight corporations examined by the CBC, Saskatchewan Government Insurancehadthe highest percentage of top bossesin the $300Kclub: 81 per cent, or nineout of 11.

Twelve out of SaskTel's 16 top executives earned $300,000.

SaskPower also hit double digits for the number of execs who earned $300,000 or more: 10 out of 15, or 66 per cent.

Watson was SaskPower's highest earner

President Robert Watson wasthe power utility's highest earner at $452,586. He resigned in October of that year over the smart meter controversy.

In 2013, Watson earned $482,003.

Other Crown corporations whose executives made a least$300,000 last year include CIC (three executives)and SaskEnergy (five executives).

No executives with the Saskatchewan Gaming Corp., Saskatchewan Transportation Company, Saskatchewan Opportunities Corp.or SaskWatermade the list.
