The city is calling the test drive of new Mosaic Stadium "an absolute success". There were a few minor glitches. including sound quality on south side and some fan congestion in concourse area.

More than 3,000 fans took public transit to game

City says fan feedback "extremely positive" after Saturday's test run of the new Mosaic Stadium.

The new Mosaic Stadium test drive Saturday in Regina was "an absolute success".

That's the word from Kim Onrait, executive director of city services and major projects.

"Operationally, there were very few glitches," said Onrait. "The comments we're hearing is how impressedeveryonewas with the ability to move around freely."

Onraitsaidone concern raised by fans, particularly in the south end of the stadium, was the public address system.

He saidthe issue will be corrected when a cluster of speakers are installed for the official opening next summer.

Onraitalso noted some fan congestion on the main concourse at times.

"We'll make modifications based on people's movement." saidOnrait. "That issue will improve when vendors move intotheir permanent spaces."

Onrait said formal fan feedback will take place later this week when the city sends out an online survey about any glitches encountered.

A second stadium test is scheduled for late spring of 2017.

The test game was also the first chance for Regina Transit to introduce a free and expanded public transit service tothenew Mosaic Stadium.

More than 3,000 fans used the service, three times the normal use for Saskatchewan Roughrider home games.

"Almost 20 percent of fans used public transit so clearly the message got out," said Onrait.
