Murder trial begins for Regina couple charged with killing 4-year-old girl

A Regina couple goes on trial this week for the murder of four-year-old June Goforth.
Kevin and TammyGoforthare charged with the second-degree murder of the girl, as well as causingunlawful bodily harm tohertwo-year-old sister.
At the time, the girlswere in foster care and living with the Goforths, who are not their parents.
Natasha Goforth, the girls' mother, saidwhen she was called to the hospital in the summer of 2012, she was horrified by the state her daughter June was in.
"She was skin and bones," Goforthsaid."She was bleeding from her wrists and her ankles."
The charges against the Goforths were upgraded by Saskatchewan's deputy attorney general in January of 2014, after reviewingevidence presented in a preliminary hearing.
