Province launches Creative Saskatchewan

The province's replacement for the Film Tax Credit was launched today with two events were held in Regina and Saskatoon.

Replacement for the Film Tax Credit is a $5M fund

The province's replacement for the Film Tax Credit was launched today with two eventsheld in Regina and Saskatoon.

Creative Saskatchewan will provide grants to artists through a $5 millionfund. It will pay for a range of products, including film and TV productions, music, arts and, crafts.

"It is an exciting time to be working in the creative industries in Saskatchewan," Kevin Doherty, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport, said in a news release. "Our population is growing, and so is our economy. Creative Saskatchewan will help the creative industries take advantage of this growth and help bring their products to markets."

Some people are criticizing Creative Saskatchewan for its similarity to the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Creative Saskatchewan is currently conducting a national search for a CEO.

Applications are being accepted next week. The new fund was announced early in 2013.
