A Saskatchewan program that helps troubled families heal and keep their kids is expanding.

As of today, Sept. 1, the Ranch Ehrlo Society's family treatment program is growing by 40 per cent, meaning it can help 23 families at the same time.

The program works to either prevent the placement of children out of the home or to assist families to unite after having a child in care.

Families from all over Canada come to Regina to participate in the program, Ranch Ehrlo says.

It brings therapists and other workers into the home to help parents obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to successfully reunify children in their care.

The program is also moving to a new building, tripling the size of its current program space.

The move will make room for more staff and a new family group space.

The family treatment program, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, has expanded five times.

It boasts an impressive success rate, with 66 per cent of families remaining together one year after being discharged.
